My wife and I have lived in Lakeview heights going on 21 years now,... and until a few years ago, I felt safe and happy here. Lately (within the past few years),.. I've noticed an obvious increase in trash on the streets, cars speeding through the neighborhood, late night suspicious activity, out of control youth, and suspicious characters walking the neighborhood at all hours of the night. My van has been vandalized, our house burglarized, kids breaking windows at my neighbors house, yards being unkept, and vehicles operating in unlawful manners of all kinds. Does anyone have any information on how I can join our Neighborhood Watch Group ? I work on the road 3 nights per week for the State of Alabama, but I'm home 4 nights per week and am usually up fairly late. I would love to get involved in Crime Prevention and reporting, and need to know who to contact to volunteer.

Hello. I live on the other side of 85 from you guys. We have had a lot of breakins over here. My house was broken in to on 4/4. Most of my electronics were taken. My laptop that was stolen has a tracking device on it. I activated it the day of the breakin and reported it to the police. I have given the police the name and address of the person that has my laptop (this information came from the screen shots that the tracking device sends me) This information was given to them over two weeks ago and they have done absolutely nothing. I have been to the police four times over the past three weeks, and every time they just take down the information and say they will get back with me. I have pictures and geographic locations of the people that broke in to my house and the police have done nothing. I have pictures, actual address, phone number, name, etc. of the person that has my laptop now, and the police have done nothing. What can we do? Seems like they would jump all over a lead like this, but I have heard nothing from them. |

No surprise to me. A friend of mine had a 2006 Firebird stolen, here in Montgomery, from his apartment complex, a few months ago. He went to the complex office and viewed the survailence tape which had captured the entire theft on video. It showed the car driving up next to his, the passenger getting out, the man breaking into his car, then both cars driving off . My friend took this video down to the police station and was told they weren't interested in seeing it. His car has still not been recovered. A few years back our home was burglarized. My daughter was in high school at the time. A friend of hers overheard some boys bragging about the burglary. They described our house, and all the articles that were taken. Fingerprints were left throughout the hoouse on several diffeent objects they had left. I asked the police to dust for prints but they refused. A couple of days later i called them with the information from my daughters friend. They actually wetnt and picked up one of the jeuveniles in question and kept him most of the day, but they said they could not get him to confess. If they had dusted for prints, they would have had a match. None of our items have been found or returned. |
