We have been experiencing a heavy flow of solicitors at our door the past few weeks. Is anyone else having this problem? Our 100lb Labrador Retriever's barking seems enough to deter them from ringing more than once. However, it is just plain annoying that they are ringing the doorbell and hanging items on my door when there is a NO Soliciting sign posted by the doorbell.

Pest control bugging me.

I been bugged by pest control people lately and they are coming by as late as 9 PM. I think that you will have to put a sign right on your front door, simply saying ''Selling anything? If so, Go Away'' These sales people are annoying and the won't take no for an answer.

Against City Code

I can remember reading about solicitors in the The Wylie News. Seems it said they were in violation if you had a sign posted. I Below is what I found on the city's code of ordinances. You might call the police dept and check what actions you can take against them.

Sec. 6-22. Depositing on private property.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, deposit, distribute or cause to be distributed any handbills in or upon private premises which are inhabited, except by handing or transmitting any such handbill directly to the owner, occupant or other person then present in or upon such private property; provided, however, that such handbills may be placed or deposited in or upon such inhabited private property if such handbill is so placed or deposited as to secure or prevent such handbill from being blown or drifted about such property or sidewalk or street and other public places, and except that mailboxes may not be so used when prohibited by United States postal laws or regulations.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, deposit, distribute or cause to be distributed any handbill upon a residence conspicuously posted with signs that indicate ''no handbills,'' ''no advertising,'' ''no soliciting'' or any similar notice indicating that the occupants of the premises do not want their premises to receive such items.
(c) The provisions of this section shall not apply, however, to the distribution of United States mail nor to newspapers, except that newspapers shall be placed on private property in such a manner as to prevent their being carried or deposited by the elements upon any street, sidewalk or other public place or other private property.

Re: Solicitors!

I have several theories about this subject.

1. Some solicitors are ''No speak-a-thee-english'' humans that are distributing material based on what someone told them to do. Thus, they do not know what ''No Soliciting'' means and in return for their gullibility....make a buck or two. I call the humans that put these material distributors up to the task ''Bad Monkey's!''.

2. Some solicitors just have one thing on their mind?…..''Get the material on the door''. Thus, in must cases do not notice any sign stating ''No Solicitors''

3. Some solicitors just don't give a Rats A$$ about any sign. Those humans are truly ''Bad Monkeys!!!''.


In short, there is probably not much you can do about it, with the exception of living on you're door step (with AK47 in hand) and when a solicitor steps onto your property yell out ''One more step and you're Swiss cheese...Pal !!!!!'' If they proceed...fire a warning shot. You'll know what to do next.
