Please be cautious with the solicitors that have been in the neighborhood this week.
I had two gentlemen from a security company come by the house this week. The proposal they offered me sounded to good to be true so I told them to come back later. I then went online to check-out their company and most of what I found (better business bureau and some blogs) was negative. I then reached out to the corporate office of the alarm company and confirmed that what the salesmen were offering was indeed not a true reflection of what the company sells. The corporate office advised me to not sign any paperwork from these gentlemen as it would result in my being billed for something other than what was sold.
I spoke with a friend who lives down W Emory in another subdivision. He advised the same salesmen were in his neighborhood this week and he had some concerns as well. One of the men asked if he could come in his home to use the bathroom, he did not let them. He then observed them in the neighborhood and said the man was walking the street and had his phone out. In front of each home that had their garage open he would hold his phone up and it appeared he was taking pictures of the open garages (and/or contents).
It could be these people are salesmen for this security company but what they are pitching is not a valid offering with that company. I am wondering if they are casing the neighborhoods to find out who has an alarm and who does not to use for their personal motives.
Buyer beware and please be cautious about having your garage doors opened and unattended.
I did speak with the Sheriff's office today to advise them of my concerns. They said if we see the same security salesmen in the neighborhood to call 911 so that a car can be sent out quickly. Please note these gentlmen are in orange & white clothing.
