The question was asked if we, ''Creekside residents'', want to continue to pay to keep the basketball court area repaired following the damages caused from vandalism.

We can not let disrespectful people control our neighborhood. If the problem continues then we need to understand the affect it will have on future development of our community. We therefore need to not only maintain our basketball court, but to prevent the continuing vandalism. One suggestion may be to put in place some form of security to monitor the area.

Specific details should be addressed by a neighborhood committee. Failure to address this issue will only lead to the degradation of our community. I am willing to lend my time and thoughts on this subject to assist in developing a corrective course of action.

Shutting down the courts may be the message that needs to be sent. If you can't repect the property, then it will be taken away. I don't want my money going for repairs. Yes I do attend the meetings and yes I do vote and yes I do pay my dues on-time and in full.

I understand completely. Closing the courts may be a necessary action. However, what do we do when the new community center is built and the same disrespectful people vandalize and deface it? Do we abandoned it as well? With that in mind, should we even spend the money to have it built?

I certainly don't have the answers and I can see the pros and cons to both sides of the issue. At the moment I don't have a firm position for either side. I just hope that whatever decisions are made will help make our community a better place.

I thank you for responding to my initial posting and I'm glad to hear you are an active member of our neighborhood. I've had scheduling problems with regards to the meetings (I should be able to attend the next one) but I too vote and keep my financial obligations in order.

I'm afraid I can tell you what will happen if you keep locking up the courts. Unless you hire some sort of security they will continue to be broken into, the kids that are doing this want to play basketball and will do so no matter what you do. If you close the courts, they will play in the streets, which according to most of the newsletters i've read is not where you want kids playing. If you're not going to hire security I say let them play. they will be safer there than in the middle of the street where they could get hit by someone speeding through the neiborhood.
