FLOOD ZONE

Posted in: San Antonio Creekside

ARE WE NOW CONSIDERED TO BE IN A FLOOD ZONE?
I UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE BUYING AND RE-FINANCING HOMES IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ARE NOW REQUIRED TO NOW BUY FLOOD INSURANCE.
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?

I LIVE ON DEERTAIL CREEK, THE BACK OF MY HOUSE IS NEXT TO CULEBRA CREEK.
WHEN I MOVED IN 5 YEARS AGO THERE WAS A STRIP OF LAND ABOUT 250-300 FEET THAT SEPARATED MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE AND ME FROM CULEBRA CREEK. ABOUT 2 ?½ YEARS AGO (I ASSUME THE OWNER OF THE LAND BEHIND US, NOT CITY WORKERS) THEY STARTED DIGGING OUT THE LAND WHICH HAD SEPARATED US FROM CULEBRA CREEK. WHAT WAS AROUND 300 FOOT STRIP OF LAND IS NOW DOWN TO ABOUT 20 FEET WHICH NOW AFFECTS US WHEN WE GET THESE HEAVY RAINS.

IS THERE ANY RECOURSE WE MAY HAVE IF WE WERE TO GET FLOODED AS THE RESULT OF THIS LAND BEING REMOVED?
