I heard the mayor spoke at a district 9 meeting about his proposed sales tax. What did he say? How does it impact OPTNA?
Mayor Howard Peak/Sales Tax

Specific projects that contribute to our economic development strategy are: San Antonio River Development; Brackenridge Park to Mission Espada; Kelly Air Force Base development; parks expansion and development over the Recharge Zone/Creek Based Linear; business development and expansion; funding better future economic development all will be funded through a shared 1/8 cent sales tax. This total proposed sales tax would generate $205 million over 10 years. This proposal will generate $20 million for economic development annually. The conclusion is Better Future San Antonio is a strategic economic opportunity to enhance our economic opportunities for the future. The suggested economic development projects will bring high-skilled, high-paying jobs to the community. This meeting was held 2/23/2000. The D9NA meetings are always held on the last Wednesday of the month. Meeting locations change each month in order to accomodate all of the people living in District 9. Anyone can attend and if you are interested in doing so please contact me and I will give you the location. The time is always 7:00 p.m. E-mail me at Dist9sec@aol.com.
