Parkwood is a community of over 1,200 houses and the people that live in these houses are of all ages and from many different cultures and backgrounds. Sometimes it is not easy living with the people inside your house let alone with the people that live next door to your house.
No matter what you may have read in one of Parkwood's newsletters recently, NO ONE is going to move into our community because of powerwashed driveways. Prospective neighbors probably will want to know that housing is affordable, this is a safe place to live and a place where people care about one another.
Life is about two kinds of relationships. The first and foremost one is the vertical one with God who is the Creator and Sustainer of all of life. The Bible begins, ''In the beginning God....'' The second kind is the numerous horizontal ones that each of us has with our fellow man. It has been said that ''no man is an island'' and that is true but in today's culture, it is very easy to feel alone and disconnected.
We worship a Triune God - Father, Son & Holy Spirit. We are created in His image which means that we are triune people with a spirit, soul (mind, will & emotions) and body. To live nowadays, we each must strive toward having a calm spirit, an open mind and an understanding/compassionate behavior. Every hour of every day each of us makes a choice to either live in peace or in war. Disagreements are a normal part of life but war is optional. The Serenity Prayer is something that may help us choose the former instead of the latter:
Father, Help me to accept the things I cannot change,
Grant me the courage to change the things I can,
And allow me Your wisdom to know the difference.
