New Stop Signs

Posted in: Sonoma Ranch
Do you trust stop signs to halt vehicles? If you said yes, be careful at the corner of Ruidosa Downs and Dona Ana Cove. If you haven't noticed the two new stop signs, please take note, stop at the signs, and make the streets safer for pedestrians, drivers, and passengers. This is a better choice than having to say, ''I wish I had stopped.'' after it's too late.
street as playground?

I've noticed the new STOP signs but I have also noticed (in that same area) too many cars parked both sides of the street and several children using those same streets as playgrounds. This is NOT only a violation of the neighborhood covenants but a serious safety issue.

Between the children playing in the streets and the parked cars blocking both sides of the street, that area is becoming a nightmare. Something needs to be done.

ah-one of the neighbors placed a ''child sign'' on the sidewalk-if they really care about their children's safety they should have their children play in a safe area-like THEIR OWN BACK YARD or the neighborhood club house) THE STREETS ARE NOT PLAYGROUNDS!

Playgrounds and Stop Signs

Agree with you both, but I hate to say that it's likely not really a matter of the stop signs being new. The signs that have been in place since I moved here in 2003 don't seem to get much respect either.

Also agree with the street as a playground. Was not an accepted play area when I was a child (OK, we don't need to ask ''how long ago was that?'') and it should not be now. I really hope our streets don't become an obstacle course of parked cars (understand there are times when street parking will occur, but it should not be on a routine basis). It's hard to successfully maneuver through all that at 50 MPH (Oops-that was another thread).

he, he ... so was that you speeding the other day?

All Kidding aside- Let's hope ALL the neighbors decide to park their cars in their driveways or garage and teach their children streets are NOT public playgrounds.

Unfortunately, there will always be a ''looney'' driving like a maniac, children playing in the street or vehicles parked in the street are
at high risk. It is up to us to protect our own children and our property by keeping these out of harms way.

The best way to avoid accidents is to PREVENT them.
