Like you, we purchased a home in Sonoma Ranch because it was a gated community ?… we thought!
The entry gates from Kyle Seale Parkway have been open continuously (inoperable) for over 2 months allowing anyone who wants to enter our community to do so at will. Is this acceptable to you? Let me make a comparison?…if the lock on your front door was inoperable, how long would it take you to get it fixed? Is it not the same case with the front doors (gates) of our community being wide-open 24 hours per day?
A few nights ago we hosted a holiday party and one of our guests had the driver?’s side window of their vehicle shattered. This car was parked in front of our home. Obviously, this incident was not only embarrassing, but also alarming. Having gates that function would avert some of the crime in our neighborhood.
This break-in is not the first in our neighborhood. Speak out and make your opinion known. You pay the association $480 every year to keep our community safe and all attributes functional. We believe our association has been negligent in keeping the gates open for over 2 months.
Is the problem with our association? With 2 of the 3 representatives connected to the developer of Sonoma Ranch, do we have someone looking out for our best interests? Do we have enough streetlights to adequately light our streets and help prevent crime? I don?’t think so. Also, we have been advised that there are no plans to add a guard at our entry even though there is a guard house that we all drove past when purchasing our homes that made it look like we would have one eventually. Again, speak out and let your voice be heard.
