  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
Last night, Friday, June 9th, our dog was struck by a rattlenake and died. The vet said that judging from the size of the bite marks, the snake was at least 2-3 feet in length. It is very probable that there are more where that came from, which is out in the greenbelt and vacant property behind Carriage Blvd. Just wanted to make everyone aware of the potential danger since we have been affected by this tragic episode. For three years, we have had nothing major happen, and now it seems like a lot of things are happening in our neighborhood. Since the construction has begun around the corner on the bluff, we have seen a great deal more large insects, scorpions, rodents, and now a snake. Please be careful and aware of what is going on in your yards. We send this in loving memory of our beloved dog, Chinguino.
Sorry about your loss

We are so sorry to hear you lost your pet. We saw the notice at the mail box. He was a beautiful dog. Take solace in the fact that he saved your life by fighting off a poisonous snake. It could have been you or another family member and that could have been worse. It is sad that he was in pain, but he probably felt a sense of peace when he could see you were OK and not hurt. God bless you and your family. He will be your guardian angel forever.
Sorry to hear about your pup

Thanks for the sharing your sad and hard learned lesson about the snakes. I have stopped walking my dog behind the fence in the green belt because of your notice. You probably saved her life as well as mine.
Thanks
