THis is posted in another discusion but I figured I need to get it more visible--HOW TO GET SPEED BUMPS INSTALLED---read the other postings there also. I think we need to get together and brainstorm on how to get this ball rolling...........
Aug 1, 2007
In April-May the residents of Autumn Park petitioned the city of San Antonio for Speed Humps from Cedar Park to Calmon Park. We were told trffic was at 1199 cars and average speed was only 33MPH. I am in a frenzy now getting neighbors to contact Diane Cibrian's office and tell them how fast traffic goes up and down our road it is hard for those of us on the street and the side streets to get out when people are flying down what they feel might be the autobohn. NEWS FLASH!!! WE ARE A NEIGHBORHOOD NOT A RACE TRACK!!!! I know that alot of the speeders are younger drivers, but it is still unacceptable. So the other thing we have to do is cotinue TALKING TO our teens aboutcontroling their speed when driving. In the mean time SAPD is supposed to increase patrol and hopefully start writing tickets to speeders. I hope that with others on board we will get results and not have to wiat for 2 more years to petiion again for speed humps. SO lets all brainstorm to get this problem rectified. SHARADA

Yes, and Amen!

Many good points.

Everyone who looks at the calendar knows there will be a BBQ party at the pavilion area Sep 1 for 1/2 the day. Can we meet up there and work more on this serious issue?

The HOA has no responsibility in this area as it is a city street and city rules apply, as have been cited, if I recall. We who live here have the responsibility to help the city help us and our neighborhood. Sharada is doing the right thing here.

My only thought really is that we do not do a bunch of things as individuals, but combine the effect of our interests, our frustrations, so as to help telegraph simply, clearly, one time with maybe a follow up as deemed necessary to not argue with, but to discuss and helpfully and hopefully get our new City Councilperson, Ms Diane Cibrian ON OUR SIDE. As the rules of the city appear to operate the council member essentially controls an expenditure like the one being sought here.

Please, others help in this discussion and any good ideas you have, post them here, email Sharada, meet with all of us on Sep 1.

Perhaps Sharada might suggest a particular time on Sep 1 when we could pause from the viddles to help work this topic?

Speed bumps

We all are very concerned with the speed at which drivers go through our neighborhood. They may need to redo the study, because we all know people are not going the posted limit. We all need to slow down, it's not just the teens! I see lots of mini-vans with harried parents going at quite a clip too.

Part of the problem is Cedar Park is the only thru route to Hausman road. With the building of the new high school, library, shopping and UTSA facilities the traffic will only increase.

School is just around the corner, slow down, and keep a look out for children!

speed hunps

I too see the adults rushing to get 1000 things done. We have all been there, but we do need to be aware of HOW FAST WE DRIVE and 30 MPH is actually a little fast when you are going down the hill on Autumn Park because you done SLOW DOWN the pull of gravity helps you go FASTER. We have to watch what we do so that we can help to enforce what needs to be done. I was told police presence was going to be upped and I have seen th police car twice since then and I am a Stay at home - work at home MOM. So the police have to follow through when they say they will do something and we have to stay on top of things to get results. As for the BBQ lets see if we can get a group together to brainstorm more ideas. and lets invite DIane Cibrian so she understands that this is not just one or two people cring about a little problem. We are community outraged at a HUGE problem that will only esculate if action is not taken soon. SHARADA
