Change is in the winds

A former copper mining town, San Manuel is undergoing a transition from being a company owned town to becoming a retirement and bedroom community for the nearby Northwest Tucson area.

Opportunities abound for new business to come into the area to build and provide service to the existing townsite and the new development planned around the existing golf course.

Mining is gone

The remains of the old smelter and concentrator bulding and associated buildings have been demolished and the land leveled and being turn over to Pinal County for future park and recreation use.
