Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.
Minutes June 3.
The minutes from September 9, 2003 were approved without changes.
Treasurers report
No change in financial status.
Election of an Assistant Treasurer
Election of a new treasurer was delayed until the November meeting. In the interim, Marilyn Wexler will sort through material received from Joy Turowski, with particular attention to tax exempt status and present a summary of the accounts at next Board meeting.
Selection of alternate area representative to Pacific Palisades Community Council.
As a point of information, George reminded the board that there is still an opening on the Pacific Palisades Community Council [PPCC] for an alternate area representative for the Santa Monica Canyon area.
Personnel changes in Rustic Park Maintenance Operations.
George informed the board that a new Gardening Area Supervisor, a new Lead Supervisor and a new Gardener were selected for the park. George will meet with the new supervisor at 9:00 am, Tuesday, October 22 at the park, interested persons invited.
201 Entrada. Emil Alexander, next door neighbor to 201 Entrada, gave an update of the proposed development at 201 Entrada. The owner’s first request for variances was turned down. Emil presented the actual plans for the corner lot for the board’s information. Alejandro reviewed the plans and suggested that the Board write a letter regarding the 15 feet encroachment into the rear (side) yard, and requesting a public hearing before it is approved. A motion was made and passed that George draft a letter to zoning requesting another hearing. The board will continue to monitor this issue.
Old Business.
?˜ Prop. K Project. There was no new update. George will send an email expressing the board’s concern about lack of feedback.
?˜ Newsletter status. The newsletter will be ready to go out by the end of the week and there was a request for volunteers to help in the mailing.
?˜ Neighborhood Traffic Study Implementation. Leslie reported on the Community Police Advisory Board Traffic Committee meeting, which met today. Pauline Chan, chief engineer for this area, presented new technological concepts for traffic control in the area. Of particular interest is a project in San Jose to utilize speed-sensing cameras to cite violators. George mentioned that the PPCC will hear a proposal for speed humps on Latimer Road at its meeting of October 23.
?˜ Residential Development Planning for Santa Monica Canyon. There was continued discussion on alternatives for development in the canyon. George will contact Cindy Miscikowski’s. office, again, to request that someone from her office meet with the Board at the next meeting to present information on Planning Development processes.
Other Business.
Alejandro and Asta voiced their concerns about excess signage use at the park.
