Inglenook Park Protest Notice

Monday, September 15th

ATTEND THE INGLENOOK PARK PROTEST MEETING

What’s it all about?
By now, most of you know about the Inglenook Park proposal sponsored by Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills. There is a large consensus among the bordering neighborhoods that the proposed changes to the park will have a very negative impact potentially resulting in a Softball City type of commercial, sports megaplex with about a dozen new light towers and many ballgames played well into the late evening.

When: Monday, Sept. 15 at 5:00pm

Where: City of Southfield Municipal Building on 26000 Evergreen Rd.
City Council Chambers

(Enter the municipal building. City council chambers are immediately to the left.)

It is now time for action. One of our residents has been invited to briefly voice our concerns to the Southfield City Council on Monday, September 15 at 5:00pm.

We, as a community, are trying to muster a large turnout for that meeting. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE COUNCIL UNDERSTANDS THERE IS A VERY LARGE DEGREE OF RESISTANCE to this project. YOUR APPEARANCE AT THE MEETING IS IMPORTANT.

Politicians respond to numbers. They also respond to media exposure. The Observer-Eccentric newspaper will run an article voicing our protest in this Sunday’s edition. A reporter will be there at Monday’s meeting. We want pictures of a large turnout.

We understand that it is difficult for some to attend a 5:00pm meeting. All the more reason why you need to be there, if you can. If you can come later, then do so.

Here’s how it works:
Our presentation is on the agenda for the 5:00pm meeting. The topic of Inglenook Park will probably not be discussed first – but we do not know for sure. This meeting is what they call a “study session.”

At 7:00pm the regular city council meeting takes place. We may try to speak then too but we are not on the official agenda. But the 7:00 council meeting is televised which gives us a chance to reach a large audience of local citizens. (The 5:00pm meeting is not televised.) Stick around for that 7:00pm meeting. There is power in numbers. Help us make our voice heard.
