In 1955, travelers who ventured out beyond Houston's southwest boundaries saw rice fields and prairie. Frank Sharp was different. He saw the potential for the WORLD'S LARGEST SUBDIVISION: SHARPSTOWN.
It became, and still is, one of the largest housing developmets in the country with MORE THAN 6,700 SINGLE-FAMILY dwellings.
The work of the Association is done by volunteers and one office employee.
Sharpstown Civic Association (SCA) is a voluntary membership homeowner's group.

7)SPECIAL PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT SHARPSTOWN RESIDENTS SUCH AS A PETITION THAT HELPED KEEP A PROPOSED ADULT PAROLE OFFICE AWAY FROM OUR AREA
SHARPSTOWN PROPERTY OWNERS ARE STRONGLY URGED TO SUPPORT THE S.C.A. AND ALL THEY DO FOR THE COMMUNITY.
Our prime goals are to protect the property values we have, keep the neighborhood pleasing to the eye, have a safe, diverse neighborhood that people want to live in.

* Deed restrictions are a part of every property deed.
* Deed restrictions are enforced by the Sharpstown Civic Association (SCA).
* Business may not be conducted from a Sharpstown Residence.
* Sharpstown Civic Association is a non-profit association open to every property owner within Sharpstown.
* SCA is a voluntary dues collection association. Annual subscription drives are held for membership $50.00 and Constables on Patrol $135.00 for year 2004.

* Garbage service is provided by the City of Houston using automated pickup equipment (bin furnished by city). Recycling of lawn waste which must be plastic bags and paper & plastics in recycling containers are picked up on designated days. Trash must not be placed curbside before 7:00 p.m. of day before pickup.
* Vehicles may not be parked on the grass, across the sidewalks nor across driveways.
* Commercial vehicles may not be parked at any residence unless there to perform a service.
* Lawns and dwellings should be kept mowed, neat and maintained.
* Architectural controls are part of the deed restrictions and are enforced by SCA. Approval is required prior to starting any improvements, additions or exterior changes. Contact the SCA office to submit plans, etc.
* Block representatives are a vital key to maintaining our community spirit. They are a terrific resource for everyone on their block. If you would like to become involved, call SCA office to volunteer.
* SCA is governed by 19 Directors elected from the Sharpstown owners.
* Constables on Patrol (COPS) provided twenty-four hour, seven days a week patrol in addition to the coverage provided by Houston Police Dept.
* During summer months, mosquito spraying is provided by SCA.
