Dead Arizona Ash Trees

Posted in: Shearer Hills-Ridgeview

I live in the 400 block of Millwood and am a landscape gardener so more aware of this problem than others.  In the 300 and 400 blocks of the "wood" steets are many dead large trees that are a visual blight.  We now know that these Arizona Ash are "junk trees" and short lived...15 - 20 years.  Our neighborhood has great upward value potential due to being inside the loop, easy freeway access, shopping, NE school district, and proximity to Quarry/Alamo Heights etc.  We could also improve real estate values by taking these trees down and planting new ones...The cost to take down these trees can be high but I wondered if "we" and the neighborhood assoc could work a deal with a company to take down some of these with the price being reduced due to increased volume of nearby customers.  Or maybe we could help one another to do this if any neighbor is knowledgeable and has equipment.  The best time to plant a tree is as soon as possible which would be this coming fall once temps drop to 70s or less.  It takes years to grow trees so must start soon.....

Landscaping can amt to 15% of value of a house.

Carpenter and wood ants have invaded a large area of this neighborhood. They are almost impossible to get rid of as they move to another source when you remove a tree.

Treat your trees!

It is alot less expensive to spray than tou removve a tree!
