                 SHEFFIELD WOODS COMMUNITY  NEWS LETTER

                          August 2023

COMMUN ITY MEETINGS?    Our next community meeting will be Tuesday, September 19th,  6:45 P.M..at the Warren Township Library, meeting room.

This is an opportunity to address issues/ problems in our neighborhood and provide information about our community and Warren Township. Also, our City Councilor, La Keisha Jackson, will be attending and answering your questions.  All are welcome: Homeowners and those who are leasing property in our neighborhood

Crime Watch:    We have seen a continued downturn in crimes such as thefts, burglaries and car thefts in the neighborhood, which we feel is due to home video cameras. As you know, at the entrances to our neighborhood our signs point out “video surveillance in affect”, and that is more and more a reality.  The majority of the calls to the police were for domestic disturbance and welfare checks. We encourage, for all of us, to get to know our neighbor. If an issue comes up, your knowing them will help clear up misunderstandings and provide an opportunity to resolve issues.

Crime Prevention: We encourage all residence to be proactive in crime prevention. (1) When not at home, put on a light, turn on a radio; make it look like someone is at home.  Most break-ins occur in the daytime, when a burglar figures no one is home. (2) Be observant: if something doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t.  Call 911.

MAYORS ACTION CENTER:  If you have any issues, such as code violations, missing signs, abandon vehicles, or just questions you might have about issues that you would like to get assistance about, call the Mayor’s Action Center (317-327-4622) and they can direct you to the right expert. Also, you can go on-line and submit any request for pothole issues or high grass.

WHAT’S UP WITH GRASSY CREEK PARK:   As you might of noticed there is construction started for a new community center/ park on German Church Rd, which is a part of Grassy Creek Park. Also there have been issues with the water apparatus at the spray park.  If you see any thing not working, please call the Mayor's Action Center.

TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE:    If you have transportation issues and ia way to get to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores and other businesses, Pathway services might have the answer for you. They have started a min-bus transportation system that can be used by all in the Warren Township area.  For more information, go- on line to www.driven2success.info, or call 317-890-1624
