Welcome to one of Detroit's most gracious neighborhoods!
Sherwood Forest, which was platted in 1917, is made up of two subdivisions, Sherwood Forest and Sherwood Forest Manor. Sherwood Forest Manor is the property on Parkside and Renfrew between Cambridge and Pembroke. Sherwood Forest is the remainder of the community. Most of our approximately 435 homes were built in the late 1920's and the 1930's. The neighborhood was patterned after an English village, and the names of our streets reflect that heritage.
Sherwood Forest has two active organizations: The Sherwood Forest Association and the Sherwood Forest Patrol. Go to the "Community Pages" section at the very end of this web page to find membership forms for both organizations. Residents are urged to join both groups, as both are vital to the well being of our community. Becoming a member is simple. Just fill in each form, print it out, and send it with your payment to the address indicated on the form.
Sherwood Forest homes are bound by property restrictions. These restrictions help assure the continuing value of our homes and the continuing vitality of our community. Go to the "Community Pages" link on this web site and click on "Property Restrictions" to find a complete listing of our restrictions. It is important that every resident be familiar with the restrictions that govern his or her home.
Sherwood Forest maintains a list of local repair and craftpersons who specialize in working on older homes. Each name on that list is there because of the recommendation of at least one of our residents. The list is updated on a regular basis. For the most recent version of the "This Old House" list, go to the "Community Pages" link on this web site and click on "This Old House." If you have a name that should be added to this list, contact Gail Rodwan. If you wish to place a classified add for a business that may not necessarily belong on the "This Old House" list, see the "Free Classifieds" section on the left side of this web site.
