Speeders on Demery Blvd

Don't Take it Too Far...

''If you do observe habitual speeders I suggest you get their license plate number and call the Shreveport police.''
You should, of course, jot down their license plate number, but you should try to do the neighborly thing first. That is, speak to them and ask them politely to slow down for the sake of your children. If they are the better people, they will happily oblige. However, if they DO become belligerent, then that's the time you should call the police. Remember the police are very busy people--they don't have enough time as it is, so why not try to settle the problem on your own first?
Speeding

I do agree that the shreveport police are very busy and SHOULD not have to deal with people speeding. If they were the ''better people'' they would not be speeding thru our neighborhood to begin with and we would not have to remind them to keep our children safe by slowing down. If they do not follow the law what makes you think they are going to be good neighbors anyway!
Re: Speeding

What you say is true. However, in saying that they are the better people, I was referring to how they would react to the asking of them to slow down. I was in no way referring to their character before that point. I agree with what you say, but first you must realize why the person was speeding in the first place. You never know what reasons a person may have for their actions--a lot of the times it's something you would never believe unless you saw it with your own eyes(ie: having a baby, medical emergency, distress call from friend/family, etc.)! A common reason is that they do not realize they are speeding (after being out on the higher speed limit roads, a person has a tendency to go over the speed limit by accident).
First and foremost, however, it is the responsibility of the parents to watch after the children and make sure they do not become aligned for an accident. You should be especially cautious if you live closer to the gate.

If you don't give the person a chance and confront them, what makes you think their behavior will ever change anyway!?
Speed Bumps

I would like to see speed bumps installed at least on Demery & Gardere...there is no way you could even begin to try and stop these people...a lot of them don't even live in here...they are construction workers, lawn service, delivery, etc....going way too fast..speed bumps would help slow them down....
