Jeff Leeper and Rick Herrera reported on March 28th the results of their traffic study meeting with the county.
According to the county, 110th Street doesn?’t warrant STOP signs. They say we?’re too new of an addition and there?’s no type of accident history to back up our request. The county also stated those are implied 4-way stops; people should be stopping along 110th Street anyway.
By county rules, it?’s illegal to play in the street. Two big ?“No-No?’s?” the county cited were the sidewalk chalk drawings in the street and all the basketball goals lining the street. These encourage children to play in the road.
We can and will be petitioning for STOP signs. Another method we will use is similar to a speed trap. We will have a speed gun to use for a designated period of time. During this time, cars will be observed. If found to be violating the 25 mph speed limit, the date of the infraction, make/model, color, and license number of the car, and the clocked speed will be recorded. The data will then be turned over to the Clark County Sheriff?’s department who in turn will issue speed letters.
The safety of our children is important. Please remember to do everything in your power to keep them safe. You can stop by Rick Herrera?’s house (lot 7, 3616 NE 111th) and pick up a ?“Slow Down?” sign to place in your yard.
