  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

I am a home owner in the 1200 block of Lydia Street. I have a concern about the speeding cars that use our street as a cut thru in the neighborhood. At first, I thought it was the teenage drivers that were the speeders, however to my surprise the adults have no regard for the speed limit in a residencial area. The visability on this particular block of Lydia Street is limited and when cars are parked on both sides of the street only one car has the ability to pass at a time. I have asked for speed patrols, speed bumps, and even went so far as to talk to several neighbors about getting together with the neighborhood association to look into blocking the connection to Texas Street with a curb. Yes thats how bad the problem is. One other solution is to make that intersection a 4-way stop. However, I watch drivers go right thru stop signs as if they were not even there.
