Kind of a long story - Hard to shorten, so bear with me.....

So, after getting home late last night (Tuesday - put your garbage out day), I proceed to wheel my garbage can into the street.  As I am walking down the driveway, a red-colored SUV flips a u-turn & parks in front of my house.  A young guy runs up to me (literally runs) holding up an identification card chained around his neck.

Ok.....So at this point, most people would be reaching for a baseball bat, shovel, 2x4.....SOME kind of defensive weapon.....I'm too tired, so I just back up & wait for whatever is going to happen, happen....

White male, mid to late-20's, sandy-blonde hair (longer on top) begins spewing a rant about being US Army out of Some base here in AZ (NOT Ft. Huachuca - Somplace I've never heard of), and that he & other fellow unemployed vets are looking for "cash donations" for them to paint lettering on the sidewalks in front of the homes here (house address #'s).  According to "GI Joe", if I don't want the numbers, he will just accept a "donation."

Yeah.....I'll bet he will!  Ha, ha!  You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!  I was born at night, but not LAST night!!!

Um.....Let me see....Not just NO, but HELL NO.  Where are your business credentials, uniform, flyer, and business card?  Why are you approaching me in the DARK (8:15)?

Has anyone else had this happen to them?  I do not believe he is legitimate.

Just wanted to post this as a notice to others to be on the lookout - Just my opinion of an odd situation.

Stay safe out there, and look out for one another!

No experience myself, but you got a pretty good description of the vehicle and person, I would encourage you to call the Sheriff's office so they can have that description as well and possibly figure out what is going on with it.

I had a guy in Camo Fatigues solicit me for gas money in front of a strip mall that has a National Guard recruiting center in it. I did note that his boots were non regulation. Later by a few days I saw this CHUMP riding a bike around the area with the same outfit. Sad to think a man would use the sacred honor of military service for this scam. This occured in Metairie, La. near Vets Blvd and Cleary.
