What is your solution?

Russel: Sorry you did not enjoy my lecture however, in every Board Brief I have tried to remind people to protect their property. The Association cannot provide security and does not pretend to. The Sheriff cannot prevent crime either but reporting any crime to the Sheriff's office alerts them to patterns of crime and they may send additional patrols. What did the Sheriff tell you to do to prevent recurrence when you reported your break in? Did you alert your neighbors about the breakin?
I have been working on getting the Safety Committee split from the Landscape Committee and inviting residents of Sonoma Ranch with law enforcement experience to join and work on ways to help residents protect themselves, their property, and the Association's property. The Sheriff is willing to work with the members and, when you are annexed into San Antonio, you may even get more patrols in the neighborhood so that's the good news.
I still advocate that members park their cars in their garages to reduce the number of cars being broken into. Each house has atleast two garages built to house cars. What is wrong with using them? I have not received any reports of stored stuff being stolen from a locked garage.

My solution

Dear Dragon Lady,

Thank you for illustrating my point. My soultion would be to put out a notice so the residents are more alert that there is a problem. I don't think we need you to tell us where to park our cars but your point is taken. In the future just be nice and prentend this is where you live and treat people the way you would like to be treated.

More holiday break-ins

There was another break-in of a car sitting on driveway over the holidays.
Thw window was broken and contents stolen. This one on Riudosa Downs.
So much for the gated community being safer. Of course, it would help if the gate was closed.
More holiday breakins, the gates

it would NOT help matters if the SECURITY GATES were closed.

procomm mgmt wants the sonoma ranch community to think of the SECURITY GATES as privacy gates.

yes the SECURITY GATES are equipped with KEYPADS and yes when they are operational you need a PIN to gain access, but nooooooo, they are privacy gates.
