  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor
Fact: Last year's meeting there was a lot of (heated) discussions about the installation of speed bumps to control speeders that put our families at risks.

Fact: A LOT of people show little regard for their neighbors, children or pets that might be in the area as they far exceed the set legal speed limit.

Fact: A concerned resident followed all proper and legal procedure in getting a signed petition for his own street to install them.

The way the law works is you only need 51% of your residents to have them installed. He got that many signatures on the two main streets (Bell Forrest and Bell Ridge) and therefore, we now have speed bumps.

FACT: The ONLY WAY to get the removed is by a new prevailing majority of 71% against on the same street. In other words, some people who were in favor, now that are opposed to them would have to change their minds and vote against them.

To pursue removal, you would need to acquire a proper petition list form from the city and get the necessary signatures (71%) to overrule the previous vote and they would be taken up.

FACT: With or without them, we still need to do something about certain neighbors leadfooted driving habits in our cozy little neighborhood. The most effective method is if it's your neighbor flying out of here, politely tell them that we'd appreciate they slowing it down a little. You might be surprised to find that some may respond to this. Let's at least TRY to help police ourselves a little.
