Prior to the Dec 2001 SWISD Bond Election, SWISD officials said equal amounts of money would be used to build anew three elementary schools; Southwest, Sun Valley, and Sky Harbour. Southwest Elem is now in a totally new building and Sun Valley is currently being rebuilt. On Aug 10, SWISD told Sky Harbour residents that their school would only be re-habbed. This is totally opposite what they said before the bond election. Before the bond election, they said they'd tried to correct the problems at Sky Harbour before with re-habs, but had realized only by building the school anew would the problems be fixed. SWISD voters approved the bond package and immediately started paying higher taxes to pay for it. Did SWISD lie to voters? Is SWISD discriminating against the residents of Sky Harbour? Did SWISD spend too much money to build the new Southwest Elem and Sun Valley Elems; at the expense of Sky Harbour residents?
