Does anyone know what happened on Thames this morning behind the school? I saw a firetruck out there and several cars at Thames and San Juaquin. The principal was on her way out to there when I dropped my child off around 7:50. I don't really need to know details, but am just hoping that no one (especially kids walking to school) got hurt. Any word?

Basically a child was biking to school and was hit by a car. The child has a pretty severe head injury. The child was not wearing a helmet. The driver was not paying attention.
Everyday I watch cars speeding through the neighborhood. Sometimes it is teenagers, sometimes adults. Personally, although I hate them, I think it is time for some more of the speed humps to be installed on streets throughout the neighborhood to the south of the school.
I also think that it is high time that we all take on some personal responsibility as drivers to take it easy when driving through residential areas.
Parents, come on, make your children wear helmets. |

I was hesitant to post anything without having the actual facts and I still am but, last report 10 minutes ago, the little girl is going to be fine. Mrs. Stokic has been in close contact with the child and reported that the child has a slight head injury but she will be okay. This information is per a resident that spoke to the School Secretary earlier today.
