Old North Salisbury Association

Posted in: Salisbury NC

The Old North Salisbury Association is the neighborhood association for the downtown community that encapsulates the North Main National Historic District overlay. The neighborhood is bounded to the south by Lafayette St., to the north by the Town of Spencer town line at 17th St., to the east by Richard St., and to the west by Jackson St. The North Main Neighborhood is the primary gateway to the City of Salisbury from the North . . . and the last remaining residential entrance to the City. In its entirety, the North Main Street Historic District provides an excellent picture of the physical evolution of an early twentieth century Salisbury residential suburb. Containing outstanding examples of Late Victorian, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow domestic architecture, our neighborhood has a rich and varied character worthy of preservation. This neighborhood is conveniently located close to, often within walking distance, art galleries, parks, tennis courts, restaurants, shops, and other social venues. Travel to and from the North Main neighborhood is facilitated by Salisbury's proximity to highway and train travel. Salisbury is home to a 100-year old depot, one of the many historic jewels in this area. The Old North Salisbury Assocation's mission is to improve the quality of life for our residents, to speak as one voice to the City on our concerns, protect the residential character of the neighborhood, & maintain the unique historical character of the neighborhood. The Association sends out newsletters, holds neighborhood meetings to address the concerns of our residents, attends City Council meetings to present these concerns, and hosts several social events throughout the year. We welcome your partnership and any inquiries.
