St. Andrews Subdivision

Smart Area Growth

Posted in: St Andrews
Public Parks

In response to this post, I have some information to share. The county at present now owns 5 acres at the current fire station. When the PUD was in planning, Mr. Johnson agreed to donate 25 acres for the purpose of green space/public parks in St. Andrews/Pinehurst area. Of course, this is no longer available. The current county budget will allow about $50,000 to purchase land in the area. I have talked to Greg Williams and others about purchasing property and would be very interested in talking to the residents to see what they would want to do and would serve their best interests.
Sincerely,
John McKay

Jackson County
McKay Forming Parks/Rec Advisory

John McKay is forming his advisory group to establish parks and recreation sites in the St. Andrews Gulfpark Estates area. This is an opportunity to significantly improve the quality of life in our area. Anyone who would like to help is requested to reply to this post.

Amendment 1

It should be required that any changes in zoning for the St Andrews-Pinehurst-Ocean Beach area be first approved by the Smart Growth Commission and that the commission's plans be incorporated into the County's plans for growth in the county.

Smart Growth Meet 8/12 1000 hrs

The Mississippi Coastal Area Comprehensive Resource Management Planning Team Thursday, August 12, 2004 10:00 AM Eldon Bolton State Office Building Department of Marine Resources Commission Room 1141 Bayview Avenue, Biloxi, MS

This is a state effort to develop a plan to sustain Mississippi?’s coastal resources and to provide for a healthy economy in the coastal area. It does not relate directly to smart growth in our neighborhood but the lessons learned by attending can probably be put to use in growing our area. If somebody is willing to go for us, please contact me by email
