The HOA needs to start coordinating with the County about repurposing the golf course as planned green space in case nobody is willing to revive it as a golf course.  When it was included in the Planned Unit Development, its use was restricted to green space and Supervisor John McKay assured us that  it would not be changed to other uses.  If the County cannot afford to maintain it as a public golf course, how about the county renting the whole thing for a nominal amount, maintaining and using it as an extension of the St Andrews Park.  Use it for walking and biking, fishing, soccer, dog park, golf practice driving area, tennis, ampitheater, frizbee golf, etc.  The owners would benefit because the rent will help them minimize their property taxes.

One of our neighbors pitched this idea --

The condominiums/golf course/pool/former real estate office as a potential retirement/assisted living community?

What if someone bulldozed the condos and rebuilt as assisted living for seniors?  The pool could be available for the retirees.  The restaurant could provide meals for those who need them delivered to their home and still sell to the general public/interested customers.  The clubhouse could serve as a rec center, place to play cards, watch football.  The course could remain open to the public but also occupy the time of retirees who were able to take advantage.  The old real estate office could house a permanent employee available to ck on and be available to assisted living seniors.

Potential investors may be Conner Cain's nursing home operation (whoever has taken over since he passed away), Roy Williams in Pascagoula, there is a man in Wiggins I could get the name of who invests in nursing homes.

I like the idea and I like the idea that our neighbor is being creative.  We need to get involved in what happens to the golf course because it will affect our property values and our quality of life. If we don't affect the process, over time I expect the existing condos will be taken over by a slum landlord and the fairways turned into new low rent condos. We need to be talking to John McKay about the County taking over the golf course as part of the St. Andrews park.
