This is our Fall Edition of the St. Pat?’s Neighborhood Association Newsletter for 2003 and we have had many wonderful and successful events in and around the St. Pat?’s area that have filled our Spring and Summer and created some wonderful memories.

On May 29 ?– June 1, we participated in a Fundraising Event for the SPNA at Route 66 for the Spring NHRA Event. Thanks to all the people that participated. It was a great event. Everyone had a lot of fun, we met allot of great people including the drivers and their pit crews; hope we can do this again next year. Thank you to all!

We had the Neighborhood Garage Sale the Weekend of June 6 & 7; this was also a great event, thank you to all who participated in this. We had a little bad weather on Friday, but Saturday was very nice weather. We had a great turn out!

On August 16, 2003, St. Pat?’s Neighborhood Association had our Neighborhood Picnic. Many Friends and Neighbors of the community came to enjoy themselves! We had delicious food, fun, kids games, many prizes, Jammer of the Joliet Jackhammers, Dog Demonstration and Show, Pi?±ata?’s, Moon Walk, and our Local Fire Fighters even came out on this very hot day and all willing participants were sprayed with water from the hoses, what fun it was! Thank you everyone!!

On August 18 & 19, there was a Neighborhood Sweep accomplished with Neighborhood Services and our Police Officers. The sweep went well as stated by Neighborhood Services. There were 144 inoperable vehicles tagged to be towed. There were 173 Notices of Violation hung on doors and they spoke with as many neighbors and residents as possible. Over half have already been abated and letters have gone out to the ones that remain. We have already noticed the improvements in our Neighborhood, thank you all for your efforts!

Ending out the summer, Marion, Morgan & Hunter Street construction has been completed. There are no immediate plans to put lighting on Willow during its reconstruction of the street, however, we intend to work with Councilman Warren Dorris for funding for this project. It is important to have good lighting along a grade school route.

As the summer comes to an end and fall begins and we reflect on our progress as a community in rebuilding and maintaining our neighborhood we can be proud that between the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends our neighborhood has shown a decrease in criminal activity statistics versus the previous two years.

As a Neighborhood Association, we extend our thanks to our own neighborhood policeman, Officer Ed Johnson, NOPT, and all of our other City Police Officers, Fire Fighters and City Officials that have helped us to move forward to make the St. Pat?’s Neighborhood a better place to live, work and bring up our families!
