How frightening it was to see our neighborhood on the front page of the Times with the picture of a rapist.....where is the Crime Watch and or our community officer????? We should have been notified of this the very day it happened....Haven't seem a police officer since high school closed for the summer, how sad.

Kenwoods Crime watch

The Crime watch was given to the President of the assoc (Sandy) because the once Crime Watch czar turned in the VP of the neighborhood assoc. It upset many folks, so he quit to please them. The other reason it wasn't going to work was most neighbors wanted someone to do all the looking and reporting to the city, but hang on for the ride. They felt codes and trash and cars without tags was someone elses job not theres. The folks in charge of Kenwood assoc wanted to know everything that was to be passed on to the city. Since Sandy took over nothing has happened As for the police I've seen Zak ride by on his bike. Kenwood still has drugs dealing on 22nd and 2nd We still have kids hanging out on a couple of corners in the evenings thinking they own the street. 24th and 4th.

WHAT CRIMEWATCH?

THESE PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES CRIMEWATCH MEMBERS OR BLOCK CAPTAINS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.
AS LONG AS IT IS DAYLIGHT THEY WATCH, SUN GOES DOWN THEY GO INSIDE. I OPERATE A BUSINESS IN KENWOOD , I AM OUT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. IT REALLY TICKS ME OFF WHEN PEOPLE SAY THEY WILL DO SOMETHING AND THEY DO NOTHING EXCEPT WORRY ABOUT HOUSE COLORS, YARDS, FENCES AND OTHE CODE VIOLATIONS.
''CRIMEWATCH'' IS SUPPOSED TO ELIMINATE CRIME IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. STATISTICS SHOW CRIME HAS INCREASED IN KENWOOD SINCE CRIMEWATCH WAS STARTED THIS TIME.
TO HELP ELIMINATE CRIME TURN YOUR PORCH LIGHTS ON (FRONT & BACK). PUT IN A DUSK TO DAWN LIGHT IN YOUR ALLEY , SIT OUTSIDE IN THE EVENING. GO FOR A DRIVE OR WALK IN THE EVENING. DON'T SIT BACK AND LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT FOR YOU! DON'T WAIT ON THE POLICE TO PATROL , BECAUSE IT WILL BE A LONG WAIT. OUR POLICE DEPT. IS TO SHORT HANDED TO MAKE REGULAR PATROLS IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD. IF WE ''THE CITIZENS DON'T HELP , WE WILL JUST SEE MORE CRIME. A SEX CRIME LAST WEEK, 4 ARMED ROBBERIES IN THE LAST MONTH, CAR FIRES IN OUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD . WAKE UP HK. GET OUT THERE AND HELP! LOOK, WATCH, CALL THE POLICE ON ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. There is the ''Broken Window Theory''.
If you know it, then you know that a ''sad'' looking neighborhood invites crime. That's why it became part of CrimeWatch. As for crime, this city is short of cops. A situation that needs to be fixed soon. Our CPO is able to spend less and less time in our neighborhood. More people out at night is fine, but untill you break all their air-conditioners, they'll stay inside like a bunch of shut-ins.
