CVS - wait for all the facts

I, like Mr. Mitrovka, have not come to a final decision about the proposed drug store. I'd love to see some type of development on that corner to replace the current store. I've lived in Old Northeast almost 30 years and can't remember the last time I shopped there because it was, in a word, filthy. I do have concerns about the scope of the project. But just this past week I've been in businesses up and down 4th Street North that have parking lots or buildings encroaching half a block into residential sections, and there doesn't seem to be a problem.
What really bothers me about this whole process of communication, though, is that so many people participating in this site choose to remain anonymous. We're all in this together, folks. How about the courtesy of letting us know who's speaking out?
Thanks.

problems

Mr. Cooper- I too have been to businesses up and down 4th which extend into neighborhoods. I have no problem with that. BUT do the people that live next to these establishments have problems? Did you ask them? If you did not ask them, you can not answer for them.

As for the store, Watson's, currently on the corner of 9th & 4th- I agree, filthy. But what does it say to you if the property owners most affected by the filth of Watson's prefer it to the intrusion of a large drugstore !?

These people are families, some with small children. They do not use Watson's. Yet, they have gone to meetings to hear the developer and they do NOT like what they hear. They are not willing to go with the easy solution or anser, which is "anything to get rid of Watson's." They are willing to wait- and put up with Watson's- until a better redevelopment proposal comes along.

And I am not posting my name becuase, frankly, I am scared at the anger I saw from the developer's attorney at the last meeting I attended. I have to do business in this town.

admitted ignorance

if you admittedly have little knowledge on this subject, then why are you blasting those who have taken the time to become informed?

if you are the editor of the neighborhood newsletter, why in heaven's name are you not informed? that's pretty scary!

and what is the point you getting to about where people live? ALL the people at the meetings live in North Shore, which is one neighborhood-
stop the divisiveness

"Blasting"?

"Blasting"?....My comments were merely to generate (and confirm) the kind of response I received!....The old "If your not with us -you're against us" attitude!

Again, The long-standing design review committee should be representing the entire neighborhoods interests, not just those who "swell the ranks" when an issue affects them in their own backyard.

If you read my comments more carefully, you'll understand I was indicating the commitee's need to provide more information in the form of reports at the general membership meetings and articles for the monthy newsletter.

As the newsletter editor, Anita, I publish only what I receive, therefore as a resident I am less informed on this issue than I'd like to be!

Let's keep some of perspective here...the editor function is a volunteer postion - not the New York Times, and I have a life outside of it too!
