Landmark Tree Cut Down!!!!!

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
The landmark Banyon tree in the front yard of the home at the confluence of Walnut, Coffee and 20th Ave NE was cut down today!!!!!

It was nearly 15 feet across, and god knows how old!

What are some residents doing to our historic, beautiful neighborhood?"

I will be checking that the proper permits were pulled on destruction of this historic tree tomorrow, and if so , asking why the city allowed it!

WE NEED A SPECIAL TREE ORDINANCE FOR AN OLDER, ESTABLISHED NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGNATION NOW!!!!!

Trimming, Not Cutting Down

My husband spoke to the owner of the property at 20th N.E., Coffee Pot and Walnut this a.m.--the two Banyans are in good health, are not being cut down but are being trimmed by an arborist. Does look a little shocking, but they won't be lost.

this is awful !!!

Please, observant neighbor, follow this through. You are absolutely right about this.

I think that if a permit was not pulled that the owner has to replace tree with many smaller trees of a certain variety (oak being one).

But you have to follow up to see that it is done. Call our code enforcement
person and report this, too !

Then write a short article for the newsletter and give it to Joh Mitrovca who you will find on this disuccion page. I am sure he will print it.

It is important for all neighbors to know about this and make sure that the owner, even if they had a permit, are made to put it lots of replacement treees.

good news

good news-

which reminds me that we all need to have our trees trimmed by a professional every few years

it is expensive but it prevent limbs or whole trees from damaging property in storms and it keeps the trees healthy
