Thanks bill

Thanks. I also feel that this should be a forum for discussion free of impediment other than no profanity.
FREE the WEB SITE. seriously we need to maybe look at the fact that the postings dropped off completely for a month and what may have caused that. What do you guys that look and read the Web site think??? Is it just for sweetness and lite or are we going to us the site to help solve the problems that come up in the neighborhood.

LETS TALK TO EACH OTHER
DON''T BE SHY
DO YOU HAVE A GRIPE OR GOOD THING TO
SAY!!!!
I would like to see some discussion on this matter as I check the site every day and with my schedule I don't get to talk to or see everyone as much as I would like to.
I HOPE TO HEAR SOME FEEDBACK

Bravo, Bill.

I stood up for it, too, or tried to anyway, in a board meeting. But majority rules in a democracy and the majority felt the other way. It isn't so much the decision as the way it was discussed and carried out in a very attacking, personal, unfair and oppressive manner that I have a real concern about. I ended up resigning from the board over this--not the actual decision on the way the board should be used, which I disagree with but since I believe strongly in the democratic process, I could have lived with that. But I feel it was handled in a very disturbing manner. I think the new site looks great and I like the idea that was discussed for an e-group type mailing list/discussion board open only to members of the association which could therefore be very frank and free/uncensored without worry of it affecting how we are perceived or marketing ourselves because it would not be a part of the marketing aspect of the site--it would be a separate thing. As I understand it, there will also be some venue on the site for new people to communicate with the president and board, so that they are not left out in the cold by the new e-group for members. It sounds like a win-win situation. I only wish that the discussion and process leading up to the decision could have been carried out in a respectful, civilized manner. Because it was not, I, too, am disillusioned and this is the first time I've been back to the site in months--just to see what was still here since I went to check out the new site (which is beautiful--great job, Janel!) and this one was a link.

Anyway, I hope that when the new president and board are elected for 2001, they will make listening to eachother in a respectful way, sticking to substantive issues instead of personal attack, and following Robert's Rules of Order a high priority. Debate and argument are GOOD, but it is important to carry it out respectfully and so that everyone can be heard. Also, I think minutes should be taken and kept for every board meeting and available to any member who wishes to see them.

Nice to have you back Edna!

I was just asking about you, Edna, at Danner's Halloween Kid Party! I have missed reading your insight and opinion on this discussion board. I hope that you aren't too disillusioned not to continue voicing your opinions! Thanks for your previous response! amy

Thanks

Thank you. I appreciate your words very much. The new site (www.historic-kenwood.com) is going to have an e-group type of e-mailing list that will facilitate a freer forum wherein we can openly and frankly discuss anything we like, from substantive issues to just chatting. We won't have to worry if it is going to be viewed as negative or positive, etc. I hope we will all be respectful of each other, however, even when we are disagreeing, while at the same time respecting the right to disagree and the free exchange of ideas and debate, which is really the sign of a healthy community.

Can't wait for the new forum, but until then, I probably won't post on this board again. Kirk out! Peace, everyone, and here is wishing that the renaissance taking place in Historic Kenwood continues in the year 2001 (which is fast approaching--eeek!).
