I thank God every night...

...for somehow directing me to Historic Kenwood. This neighborhood is truly special. That ain't a platitude, I really feel and mean it. Are there problems, YESSSSSSSSS, but for me they are totally outweighed by the wonderful things. It has all been said before--they historic, ecclectic and precious housing stock; the community-fostering neighborhood design, which so many newer neighborhoods are trying to get back to of front porches, sidewalks, garages in the back, rear alleys, houses close together, etc.; the strong, amazing neighborhood association; the diversity of people in the neighborhood; the ''intentionality'' of the neighborhood--the way we all seem to have a realization that we ARE a neighborhood and a VISION and commitment to staying one and flowering ever more brilliantly in the future! We may not all share the same exact vision for the direction we want the 'hood to take--as my Uncle Jim would say, ''That's what makes horse racing!''. It is okay--yes, even HEALTHY--to disagree, because when you get down to it, we all CARE. That is the common ground that brings us together. We all care. We all bring our different visions and opinions and passions to the table, but there at the center is the caring. That's what makes me love Kenwood and stick it out through the rough patches.
