Please remember that if you will be 18 years old by September 10 you CAN vote in the primary elections on that date IF you are registered in the party offering the primary you wish to vote in.

Registering for the first time, changing one's party affiliation, or re-registering if one's address has changed is a matter of filling out a simple form, but it must be in an office of the Supervisor of Elections before August 12, so should be acted upon promptly.

SOE has offices in Clearwater and St. Petersburg; more info by calling 464-3551. Libraries also have forms available.

If your 18th birthday occurs after September 10 but before November 5 you can vote in the general election if you have registered by 30 days before election day.

Whoever is eligible to vote in the primary, however, should do so because some races (especially school board) will be decided that day.

It's important for everyone to remember that our last presidential election demonstrated how much every vote counts; a number of votes smaller than many high-school graduating classes made all the difference!
