get involved
perhaps if more people got involved instead of taking shots at those who do, things would be more acceptable.

not meant to "take shots"
Did not mean to criticize those who can afford to really fix up their homes in a historically perfect way. That is great for all of us. It incrreases the value of all our homes and makes this area desireable to newcomers.
Meant to say that some of us do not have lots of $ and so have to do what we can.
We would personally like more ideas on how to improve what we have in an inexpensive way.
Did not mean to offend anybody. We thank those who are active and those who can really fix up their places right.

no "shots" here
I have no time to do any volunteering and only sqeek out enough time to take care of my house so it is OK for the neighbors.
Some of us have kids at home, full time jobs, parents to take care of, and do our volunteering at schools. We are also saving for college and trying to get by financially. We do not have the luxury of any spare time or spare money for grand fixing up.
I agree with "sounds familiar" that new ideas on a smaller scale that might actually be achievable by the average
family would be good.
