The City Council meets on June 15 to review and approve or deny the MetroGroup/CVS application for rezoning. If you cannot attend and make a statement, then write letters to council members and the Mayor, or call them. If you are undecided about this application, attend the Special Meting of the NSNA on June 13, 6:30 p.m., The Sunshine Center for a presentation and discussion of the issues. If this issue has spurred you to get to know your Board Members and the board process better, attend the Board Meeting tonight, June 12, 1100 Northshore Dr., 6:00 p.m. in the Condo. Meeting Room.

Actually.......

As for council, they don't always listen. They are however starting to listen to neighborhood groups more and more. Really! As for your assoc., the best way to change things or be heard, is from within. It's much more effective to make policy than to just feel like a voice in the wind. I know we all have our time limits. Just do as much as you can. Don't dispair. Pick your battles. Keep up the good fight!

Why? Because change can occur..

So sorry to hear that you've become discouraged, but the issue of CVS' application for rezoning spurred residents and NSNA members to get involved; and, as a result, we have an NDR and NSNA general membership and residents' vote to object to the rezoning to take to City Council. We have well-informed, articulate representatives who will attend the City Council Meeting. In the past, when NSNA has persisted and participated, we've been heard, as evidenced by the saving of Sunken Gardens, traffic calming, and numerous other issues of concern. I hope that recent events will cause you to feel hopeful again and that you'll resume participating. Susan
