and so who would be qualified to serve on the board? even retired people have ''connections'' from when they worked? women who stay home with their kids have ''connections''. just WHO is eligilbe under your broad definitions?

I still do not believe this is workable given the size of North Shore and the size of the city. It is already very diffficult to get people to serve on the board.
Your proposal is too exteme. Are there any incidents (other than the most recent) where the type of conflict you are addressing has occurred?
At some point I think one must just trust people to use their common sense. And perhaps a new, strong clause in the by-laws to address the potential.

You make a point that my comment about the board members in general was not productive. So? I don't care if it was productive or not, it is not a criteria that I impose as I write comments. A more relevant viewpoint is - why do you think it is important? If I were to apply ''productivity'' as a standard, I fear that 99% of the postings would be gone. We would simply announce meetings on this board. Is that your objective?
