King of the Mountain ?

Posted in: Historic Old Northeast
When I was a kid we used to play a game called King on the Mountain. You know. Where all the kids rush up on to a small knoll or hill pushing the other kids down until only one remained atop of it, thus, becoming the king!

Well, that is how I am beginning to feel. I mean listen to this.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO out there!!! (wait, wait, wait,)

Nothing! No echo. No nothing. (whispering now) Its quiet out there. sshhhh!

HHHmmmm!

Could it be? Were all of the other kids called home for lunch? Could all of the other kids made other plans and not told me?

Nah!

So, I guess I'll just sit here on this little grassy knoll and wait. Wait until all of the other kids come back to play.

And if they don't, well, I guess I become King for a Day or two.

P. S. Soon kids, I will be writing in to tell another yarn of mine. One of my favorites! Well no, actually, THE favorite. A fire side, camp site, snake infested, spider crawling, deep dark night of a bonanza filled with screech-owls, bad bats and night crawlers. It goes back many, many years, back into the moss filled pines, along old Augusta brick lined lanes of the old Old Northeast. And, it has a slightly different cast to it. Not completely mind you, some of the little forest creatures and happy campers are still with us here today, like me. But enough teasing for now. Just make sure to bring a friend or two and lots of pillows. Some Kleenex would'nt hurt either.

And, of coarse, by all means, bring your marshmellows and several long roasting sticks. They will need to be extra long because the fire will be hot, hot, hot. Don't want anyone to get singed when I start telling my yarns.

So, you might be asking. Steve, don't stop now!! Give us more. Don't leave us hanging. We can't stand it.

Well, you can never say I was a dangling participle, prone to dangling. Soooo!

This yarn has to do with how it all started!

How what started you say?

It started! It! It! It!

The intrique. The plotting. The ...................!

It!!!!

But must stop now. That's enough of a tease for now. Tune in. Maybe I'll post tonight?? Maybe tomorrow???? You'll just have to keep checking in until I do. O. K.????

One nice thing about egotists,,,

They don't talk about other people. (perhaps that's because they're always me-deep in conversation.) --Lucille S. Harper

To: Not Talking

So because you use fewer words and quote others that means that you are not talking about someone else (me)? Am I missing something Miss Literate?

Me, Me, Me, Me!!!

It is all about ''The Victim Steve'' that is all. You aren't missing anything. The world goes on while you drown in your self pity. Bye Bye now......your getting deeper and deeper and deeeeppper......
