Have you ever wanted to try your hand at balancing the county's books? Respond to the needs of residents during the approach of a simulated hurricane? Field simulated 9-1-1 calls? If so, you sound like a prospective student for Pinellas Citizen University (PCU). After a very successful first year, PCU is back to begin a new year of classes with behind-the-scenes tours and face-to-face communication with county staff. Our county is your campus.

PCU in 2003 is a ten-week hands-on class that's your chance to discover how your county government serves you every day. This course takes you out of the classroom with exciting field demonstrations and experiences. New this year are stops at Animal Services and the county's EMS facility.

Once you make the grade, you'll receive your diploma during a meeting of the Board of County Commissioner broadcast live on Pinellas 18: Your County Connection.

Tuition for PCU is $30, and it includes a class shirt, all course materials, graduation ceremony and diploma. If you are interested in participating, register now! Class enrollment is limited to 25 students with the first session beginning Thursday, January 16th. Two additional sessions are planned throughout 2003. Pick up an application at the Information Desk in the lobby of the Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court Street in downtown Clearwater or click here* to find your application
