Reply to ''Who is this...''?

I'm glad to provide a response to this posting. It's Mrs. Rebillot, and I'm a 19 year resident of the North Shore neighborhood and a longstanding member of the association. I'm not unlike many of the residents of North Shore. I spent my twenties and thirties completing my education, committing to a vocation, and building a professional life and a marriage and family life. My husband and I have worked hard to restore our home and to contribute in a lot of everyday, small ways to our neighborhood and community. We have spent part of our forties facing losses of parents and increased support and care of aging parents as many others of the ''sandwich generation'' do.
We made a conscious choice just about two years ago to increase our participation in our neighborhood and in our community. In order to manage this, I relocated my practice gradually over two years to downtown St. Petersburg from Tampa. This change allows me more time and energy to invest in local volunteerism. I have a history of volunteering in a variety of organizations since my twenties, and my biography posted on this website tells you a bit about me professionally.
The posting I'm responding to is rather interesting. If you follow the implication, it's that anyone who increases their interest and participation in the association or is a new member is suspect and of less value than someone with ''a track record.'' While tradition and longevity of involvement are valuable, growth and development are critical to the vitality of any organization. We should welcome and embrace new participation. The comment, ''...who has gotten involved in OUR neighborhood business...'' is strangely proprietary--this is MY neighborhood, and therefore, my business, too. I'm really looking forward to further service on behalf of the neighborhood. People will learn more about me over time, and I'll always be open to hearing feedback.
