NSNA Board meeting was held Nov. 13. Here are some highlights:

The Planning Committee is exploring seeking a City Neighborhood Grant to assist in redeveloping our Neighborhood Plan. This is going to be an exciting process, and we want to be ready for the City's spring revisioning workshops for the City Plan. The next Planning Committee Meeting is Nov. 27 at 7:00p.m.--call Mary Alice Lange for further info. We are seeking additional members for this Committee.
City Team Meeting report revealed the following: Hazelton Townhomes project has stop work order, permits were revoked and demo initiated, but has entered into an agreement with the City to continue the project. All stipulations agreed to must be met by March 1, 2001.
NSNA Monument Migration Grant to move the monument at 22nd Ave. to the center of the Ave. is awaiting further info. and review in Dec.We have a grant to cover the costs.
Coffee Pot Seawall repairs, some road resurfacing and sidewalk repair projects are scheduled. Beach Drive Traffic Calming project slated for 4th quarter of 2002, and George Webb is exploring the possibility of resurfacing
it with brick. Codes compliance cases were reported on in detail.
For further info., attend the General Membership Meeting on Nov. 20. Next City Team Meeting is Dec. 19, 3:30.
Crime: Kate Hawk and Susan Rebillot will be following up with City Police and a state agency on 2 properties with known criminal activity. Our Neighborhood Officer has requested time to speak at the Nov. membership meeting on neighborhood crime issues.
Beautification: Cynthia Serra and her team are working on our landscaped islands--watch for some additonal colorful plantings and an Adopt an Island program. There are tentative plans to put in a sprinkler system at 4th Street N. and 5th Ave. and to develop a lovely landscaped small park--
perhaps a fountain, a bit of brick paving, a collaboration of NSNA, the 4th Street Business District, and the City.
No reports were available on the CVS Traffic Calming Committee or on the Beach Drive Parking Permit District proposal.
The NSNA Nominations/Elections Committee of Rob Wertz, Steve Deal, Kate Hawk,Will Goetze, and Susan Rebillot have been receiving calls from members who wish to run for Board and Board officer positions. It's the Committee's responsibility to insure that we have a slate of candidates, that it's published, and to manage the election. Election procedures have been reviewed. Nominations will be open at the Membership meeting on Nov. 20, and speeches and elections will occur at the Jan. meeting. There will be brief biographies of candidates in the Dec. newsletter. Members can contact any Nominations Committee member to make them aware of any nominations.
This is a partial summary--minutes can be requested from Board Secretary Arlene Bartley.

sounds like the only thing getting done around north shore these days is talk. the reilbillott crowd does nothing but talk. when are yu going to do something possitive for the neighborhood. all you talk about is what has already been agreed to and accomplished in the past and is pending going in. no plans for anything new. no new ideas. no nothing. but, it isnt surprising when you consider only a handful of people are involved. my neighbors talk about nothing but how pathethic north shore nieghborhood association is these days. how true. nothing but dull people doing dull things. for instance, this web site gets a posting nowadays and no one responds. makes you think no one is even reading this thing.

BOARD MEETING

Thanks for the update.
I think the board needs to check into this seawall situation.
It is a constant drain on the taxpayers.
Why can't the CITY fix it right?
Look at the city budget. This project is in it every year.
The engineer in charge told me it wasn't done right. Ignore DELTA QUADRANT. The website has returned to a civil place, let's keep it that way.

Sea Wall Repairs Followup +

Thanks, Barry--we'll see what we can find out. There is more detail in the minutes about this that I'd be glad to provide--just too much copy to print here. If you want a copy of that portion, e-mail me. Also, the City Team Meeting Minutes contain addresses where sidewalk repairs and road resurfacing will occur in the neighborhood--too much info to print here, but we can make the minutes available at the Nov. 20 meeting for people to review if they wish. Ditto codes issues.
