Monument location

If I undersdand this, the monument would be located where 5th Ave N curves into 4th St. At that point, 5th Ave N is a one way major feeder leaving downtown and entering the
4th St business corridor. There is no residential character to this area.

The Old Northeast entrance monuments are designed to denote entry into the Old Northeast residential neighborhood. Even though businesses on the east side of 4th Street are within our neighborhood boundaries, Old Northeast is a residential community. Therefore, I think that 5th Ave at 4th St N would not be a proper location for the relocaion of the monument.

No,No,No,

For $ 27,000.00 let's put the monument where we can see it.
Unless you know the monument's location on 22 ave n you would never see it, plus it is being consumed by some monument eating vine!!!!!!

Thank you for input

Thanks very much for your input regarding the 22nd Avenue Monument. The Beautification Committe and the Board are absolutely open to hearing suggestions on alternative placements. Many people are very, very disappointed that the City will not install the monument on 22nd as planned previously. The suggested sites then have to be assessed by City engineers as to feasibility. Some have suggested waiting until the Beach Drive Traffic Plan is implemented, and to place it at Beach and Coffeepot, where there will be a landscaped island similar to the one at Beach and Fifth Avenue. Some of you may have other suggestions. You can reply here and e-mail Cynthia Serra, Chair of Beautification Committee at Quillcyn@aol.com.
Beach better than 5th

Good idea to wait and see about putting it at Beach and Coffeepot- a much more residential location and a good reminder to people that they are entering Old Northeast - a residential neighborhood, not just Beach Drive as a speedway to downtown
