Please be advised than even as Albert Whitted Airport's very usefullness is questioned it is proposing to expand for night time takeoffs and landings. Make a mental note of the next over flying aircraft's engine volume, then imagine that happening as you are trying to drift off to sleep tonight.


G. New Ordinances (First reading of title and setting of public hearing date)

Setting September 20, 2001 as the public hearing date for the following proposed ordinances:

1. Amending Section 6-52(b) of the St. Petersburg City Code to temporarily allow aircraft takeoffs from Runway 24 between sunset and sunrise at the Albert Whitted Airport.

Who Do ?

I have noticed early evening noise that was quite loud and low going into the airport just in the last few weeks. This would be even more disturbing while trying to sleep. As it is, it is like wondering if the durn thing is going to crash into the house.

Sleepless: there's a man who lives in one of the condos down on NS BLVD here in our neighborhood who used to be involved in noise abatement or something with Logan Airport in Boston. He's someone to contact to help prevent this. Think he lived in NS Condos but cant remember name. The condo board would know him.

CLEAR: airport should go !

This is just another reason the airport should go. It has outlived its usefullness as good use of that land and serves only a few weathy people who can use CLW/SP airport easily.
The Vision 2020 and all the other polling of St. Pete taxpayers shows that it is time to say bye-bye to the airport.
