Yesterday the City Council had a workshop on the Master Plan of Albert Whitted. The Airport Association, pilots and The Airport Manager was there to tell the Council what they needed. The first phase will be New Hangers, New Terminal, and about 2 acres of extension to the runway.
The second phase will be about 300ft to the east ,west runway.
The third phase will be another 600 plus ft. of runway.
Most of the council present was in agreement to spend the money to have a larger airport.
They refused to let the opposition tell there side. Instead they will set up a Public Hearing to hear the citizens of St. Petersburg.
If we are to have any impact we need to write letters to the Council and get everyone to the public hearing.
The time has come to make up our mind if we want a larger Airport with more Jets or we want to attend the hearing.

Thanks for this update. I thought this issue might be disappearing due to all the spending shortfalls on the local, state and federal level. This airport needs to GO ! It is a waste of hard-working people's money (taxes) and serves only a privileged few. Now, more than ever, our resources need to go into more productive things.

DANGER

The airport is dangerous as the city has grown up and around it. Just try being on the USF campus when a plane goes over. Close by are two hospitals, the pier and the most densly populated areas of our city. Also given the current terrorist situation which will probably go on for years and years who wants this airport so close? It cares the heck out of me everytime I hear a plane go over! Is the city going to wait for the next crash that might hit people instead of the water? These pilots are all professionals by any means.
It's time for the airport to GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!
