Today the city council at workshop was presented a plan for the downtown waterfront.
1. 40 acres of Waterfront Park.
2 82 acres of residential property No higher than 5 stories.
3 This would have brought in over 20,000,000.00 of new taxes.

The other plan is to make Albert Whitted a bigger and Larger Airport. It would add over 1000 ft of new runway out into the bay.It would cost over 33 million dollars to make this airport large enough for medium size JETS.

The city council is leaning towards a larger and Bigger airport. Most all of the council stated that most everyone they talked to was in favor of keeping the airport.

If you want a Larger Airport you need to call in to the City Hall

If you want 40 acres of new Park land and the airport to go away, you need to call City Hall.

Use the internet. Go to www.stpete.org. Look for the email box and scroll to ''city council.'' A screen will come up for email. Then just type in your feelings about the airport.

I just did my letter. Go back a page and look for city website an go to city council. One thing you need to place your name on it or it isn't considered.

Airport Should Go

Read the editorial in this morning's Times. Very interesting that several Council members are protecting the airport before public input.

The land that the airport sits upon should be available for use by the citizens, all of the citizens, of St. Petersburg. The early city leaders set an excellent example by designating the waterfront land as parkland. The current city leaders have an opportunity to also make an excellent, historical decision in the same vein. Please contact them and let them know that this land should be opened up for public use!
