If you don't... you should. You are needed! You are probably wondering at this point what or where you are being told you should belong. Not talking about a social club... not talking about a fraternal organization... not talking about a church... although those are all options available to you...highly recommended at that. Since you are reading this it's a fair guess that you live in the Historic Old Northeast. We have a steadily growing neighborhood association comprised of residents from one end of the neighborhood to the other. The number of residents attending meetings continues to grow. (Home ownership is NOT required for membership.) Back to belonging. The first step in belonging is to step forward. It would be great if ''we'' were able to knock on the door of every new resident and personally welcome you into the neighborhood - we have talked about this at just about every planning meeting but just don't have enough volunteers to accomplish this now. Could that be your talent?? Do you like to meet new people & greet new neighbors? Or... would you prefer to organize a Neighborhood-Wide Alley Rally?? Perhaps you are the one who could whip our neighborhood entrances into shape... organize a committee to ensure the portals to our community are always looking their best. Do you love old homes... that's why you are here? Our Historic Preservation Committee really needs your help to safeguard the very way of life you chose this neighborhood for. Do you have a flair with the written word...or always thought you might...given the opportunity...our neighborhood newsletter would be a great place to express that talent. Are you not sure how you could contribute to the neighborhood?? Start off by making a committment to come to our monthly general membership meetings... join the association if you haven't already. Find a board member at the meeting and tell them you want to make a difference in YOUR neigborhood. There is something for everyone. There is more than enough to go around for everyone. We need you. You DO belong... come join us.
