Stoney Ridge Subdivision

Westside Neighborhood Remodeled

Posted in: Historic Westside
My, our neighborhood is popular! With all the remodeling going on, we look more like a new subdivision going up--including the upstairs bathroom & new kitchen @ in my house. Next door, they're doing a sprinkler system & at the corner, the paint is going on the 2 story addition. Out my new kitchen window, I'll see the back neighbor's addition going up and across the street from them, the remodeling has been going on since before Christmas (I think). Never mind the scrape-offs & start overs!! Notice the industrial strength dumpsters on every block?? I've been inspired with our re-model to go back to researching the home's history. Lot's of owners going back to 1885, and none left anything in the lathe & plaster walls, gas light pipes or converted coal burning furnace.
Anyone else notice, or curious about the revolution in the neighborhood. I think it would make a good article in the Neighborhood Newsletter. PS-the Neighborhood Group actually started in the 70's over the threat of what we called a ''Tire Vulcanizing'' plant going in on Coffman--not simple traffic issues. We also saved a tree by the Times-Call. That's all I have to say.
