Time is running out to save the chapel at the VA grounds. Just think of all the history will lost if the chapel can't be save. We are trying to restore it so it can be used again for weddings, funeral services and Sunday services. Please remember that this is the first non-denominational church ever built on Government land.
With just weeks left until the VA releases the Request for Proposals (RFP) for commercial development of the historic district, we are pressing forward with our case for the historic Home Chapel (1889).
1. The Chapel will not survive another winter. Our restoration contractor has demonstrated that damage is beginning to escalate.
2. The RFP process may take a year or more.
3. We think we can demonstrate that the community wants to save this sacred landmark. We are hoping for major donations from national veteran groups.
4. Our board is developing a business plan to make the Chapel self-sustaining.
Can you help us get the word out? Can you take brochures to your church or organization, families and friends?
Come to Building 1 located on the VA grounds (next to the ''Tower'' building) this Saturday - July 16 - 9 a.m. to noon to pick up brochures and other materials. Laura R. and I will be going to the H.O.G (Harley Owners Group) rally on the grounds after that. Please email us with your address and we'll be gglad mail/deliver brochures to you.
